Working with First Nations to shape and implement Land Use Plans that reflect their values, priorities, and vision for the future.
Hi, I’m Mitchell Avis, a Registered Professional Planner and the founder of Avision Planning.
I work alongside First Nations to support Land Use Planning, engagement, and implementation—not as someone with all the answers, but as a partner who listens deeply and helps bring your community’s goals to life.
I often work independently, but not alone. For projects that need environmental, mapping, or technical expertise, I collaborate with a trusted network of professionals to bring the right people to the table.
If you're looking for practical support grounded in trust, respect, and community priorities—I'd love to connect.
I help communities create and carry out plans that reflect their values, priorities, and ways of knowing. While my roots are in land use planning, I support a range of community planning efforts.
Land Use Plans, Strategic Plans, Environmental Management Plans
Turning plans into meaningful and realistic action
Inclusive, respectful engagement processes
Workshops, staff training, and collaborative decision-making
Avision Planning operates on the traditional home of the Neutral People, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee. This land is part of the Haldimand Tract - an area that includes six miles on either side of the Grand River that was promised to the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations of the Grand River) in 1784.
